There are two things I really love doing, or maybe even three things. I love to travel, take photographs, and try out different mediums – this project combines all three. I travelled to Singapore and spent some time taking photos of buildings, people, and life. When I got home to Denmark, I knew I wanted to try something different.
When working with photographs, I always try to catch different angles and create a visual statement. I use my photographs in graphic design as a way to try new approaches and materials. In this case, I used the method ‘serigraphy’.
What Is Serigraphy?
This is also called screen painting, and it is an old printing technique that emerged in China hundreds of years ago. Basically, it is a way to create an image on paper, fabric or other objects. You press ink through a screen with certain areas blocked off. You can make fine art prints or like in my case, use photographs.
